It was 2006 and 19-year-old Joseph Miranda was working at a landscape company in Maryland, called Outside Unlimited. It was nearing the end of his shift and he was ready to head out and meet up with some friends. However, it was summer time and his company was working on some major landscaping projects with deadlines. So, his supervisor asked him to finish up one more task so that he would be ahead of the game for his shift the following morning. That’s when everything changed. Joseph attempted to complete the task but there was one Bobcat in the yard, and it was already in use by another employee. So, Joseph talked to the driver on the Bobcat and decided to wait his turn. It was a normal day, nothing out of the ordinary, really; and Joseph didn’t know that waiting to complete this particular task would turn deadly.Was it a tragic workplace accident? Tawnya was reported missing on December 8, 1996. She was last seen by an acquaintance during the evening hours in Spring Hill, Kansas, on December 7, 1996. Police originally suspected that she was a runaway but her mother, Lori, knew better. On June 7, 1997, Tawnya’s skeletonized remains were found in a farmer’s field in the 21000 block U.S. 169 Highway, Spring Hill, Kansas. Her death was ruled a homicide, but there was never an arrest nor were there any charges filed in the case. In Episode 1, you'll hear about the facts, as we know them, surrounding the case.
