5 Ways We Add Drama to Our Relationships

Overcoming Overwhelm with Dr. Samantha Brody

This week on the show I have a licensed Naturopathic Physician and Acupuncturist who wrote a book on dismantling stress from the inside out so you can live a life you love. Sound familiar? This is a great discussion! I am excited to share Dr. Samantha's work because this is how I got my health back on track. I had been to countless doctors and specialist (and gotten countless diagnoses and prescriptions) and kept feeling worse and worse. It wasn't until I looked at the whole picture that my healing began. Dr. Samantha approaches patients by looking at the whole picture when addressing someone's health. She combines Western and Eastern medicine to help patients (and readers) find a place of health. Her book,Overcoming Overwhelm: Dismantle Your Stress from the Inside Out, is an excellent resource to walk you through four concrete steps to dismantle overwhelm. 10 All Natural Ways to Beat Anxiety

Are You an Anxious Parent?

Trying to control our kids’ lives gives us an illusion of calm and feels good in the moment. Plus it's what everyone else is doing so until you learn how it impacts our kids, why would you choose to do differently? I'll tell you why. Because it actually doesn't feel good for you ... or your kid. The irony is that we feel more out of control the more we try to control things out of our control (our kids!) Listen in as I share one of my favorite tools to help with this. . How To Raise Emotionally Intelligent Kids

Why do we expect kids to do things we don't or can't do? In the same way that I can not expect my kids to have control of their phone usage if I don't have control of my phone usage. I can't expect my kids to process their emotions if I can't process mine. In the same way that I can't expect my kids to choose food that is healthy for their bodies if I don't choose healthy foods for my body. I can not teach my kids how to regulate their emotions if I don't know how to regulate mine. In order for our kids to be able to process their emotions from a strong, empowered place, we parents have to know how to do that. Yet whoa, if you’re anything like me, I did not know how to manage my own emotions in effective, healthy ways. I certainly knew how to manage my emotions in ineffective, unhealthy ways: over eating, drinking, blaming others, procrastinating, etc. But how to process them in helpful ways? Enter this podcast! Listen in because it's actually quite simple. 3 Steps. Let's go. Life ...

Lessons As I Age: 48 Things

Your Spiritual Alarm Clock Is Going Off

Yoo hoo...your alarm clock is going off. You know thatarea of your life that just doesn't "feel" right? Where you feel like you're always doing what other people want instead of what you want? Or, do you feel like no one knows the real you? That if people knew the "real you" they'd turn and run? Thefeeling you have when you think of those things is your spiritual alarm clock. And the fact you hear it is a lovely thing. It’s telling you it's time. Time to stop playing small. Time to be more you. Time to speak up. I’ve met with several groups of females of various ages in the past several weeks and one message is clear: we are selling ourselves short. As pre-teen girls, teenagers, young women, moms: we are playing too small. We are putting others needs before ours in many of the relationships in our lives: our parents, our spouses, random friends, our kids, our coworkers….even people we don’t like! Listen in to this week's podcast and thenlisten to your alarm clock. The world needs ...

Feel the Fear and Do It Anyways

When I ask most people why they’re not doing what they want to be doing it comes down to fear. Fear of what others will think; Fear of our child or a loved one struggling; Fear of failing; Fear of the unknown; Fear of missing out. Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. I get it. Yet... In this episode, I encourage you to see fear as a sign that you’re on the right path. To open your mind to see that pain is a precursor to growth. Our muscles literally tear apart in order to grow. After you push through a challenging workout, how do you feel? Strong. Confident. Proud. The same thing happens emotionally. After we allow our painful feeling and learn from it, how do we feel afterwards? Like a badass. Like a warrior. Like a stronger, more evolved version of you! The path of the warrior is to shift from avoiding fear to viewing it as your teacher. Listen in as I help give you tools to feel the fear and do it anyways.
