18. Week Six -Miami Dolphins (2019)

Oh Happy Days… the Washington Redskins capitalize on the energy of their new interim Head Coach, Bill Callahan, and get their first W on the year… breaking their five game losing streak against the Miami Dolphins. Despite the Dolphins being one of the worst teams in the NFL this year, they played a good game and kept it close until the very end. But the Redskins hung on and got their first Win of the Bill Callahan era, bringing their season record to 1-5… the new coach stuck to his promise and did not get away from the run game, finally getting Adrian Peterson his first 100 yard game of the year. On top of Peterson, Terry McLaurin had another fantastic game racking up two touchdowns and 100 yards receiving of his own… unfortunately that was really it for the offense, in a game that should have been a breakout for several more players, everyone else came out kind of flat. Luckily our defense started strong and stayed consistent throughout to help ensure the win late in the game… our front seven put pressure on Josh Rosen early and often, so much so, that the Dolphins were forced to yank him and put in Ryan Fitzpatrick to spark their offense… It came down to the wire, but the Redskins got the job done and Won their first game of the 2019 season… In Episode Eighteen, I cover the good, the bad and the ugly of the Redskins sixth regular season game of the 2019 season against the Miami Dolphins.. I review the game overall, Case Keenum’s rough start and just how bad he looked despite Terry McLaurin bailing him out several times, I discuss the highly anticipated run game and Adrian Peterson’s big day, and the Defense coming out strong and finally staying consistently good through halftime… I take a deep dive into the reports that Dan Snyder is targeting Mike Tomlin and that he is willing to do whatever it takes to get him, not only paying him a top salary but relinquishing authority to him completely… I also discuss how this acknowledgement may finally mean that Snyder has identified himself and Bruce Allen as the problem and allowing a coach (or GM) to come in and take over control of football operations to finally become successful… Whether it be Tomlin or someone else, the mere acknowledgement is very interesting and should be something to keep and eye on as the coaching search continues. And in a shock to no one, I mention Trent Williams, however, it was only in regards to being a perfect trade asset to lure Tomlin away from the Steelers organization… And finally I provide my prediction for the upcoming week seven game against the San Francisco 49ers (guess who’s unrealistically optimistic again)… As always, enjoy my unsolicited and unrealistically optimistic opinions on all things Washington Redskins in this Episode covering the 2019 Week Six Win, against the Miami Dolphins… If you are enjoying the Podcast, please subscribe, leave a rating or review and tell a friend, it really goes a long way in getting this podcast to reach a wider audience and I would be very grateful… and if you don't already, please follow me on Twitter @HTTRChamps and as always, #HTTR --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/offseasonchampions/message

I review the game overall, Colt McCoy’s first start of the season and just how bad he looked, I delve into the non-existent running game, and the Defense coming out strong, then petering out… I take another deep dive into the coaching staff, starting with the firing of Jay Gruden, touching on my expectations from interim Head Coach Bill Callahan, the early decision to continue to sit Dwayne Haskins, how all of these changes will effects Kevin O’Connell, what I liked and didn’t like from the press conferences from both Callahan and Allen, and finally a way to early look into coaching candidates for the 2020 season… I give my opinion on Bruce Allen and what this team needs to do the rest of this season and into the offseason, starting with naming a GM that will take over football operations and have the latitude to bring in a new coach and coordinator accordingly and allow that group to have complete control of the players that are signed and drafted… And in a long overdue decision I think I’ve reached the point where I am done talking about Trent Williams for a while in what may be my last update (but probably not) in the ongoing saga that is “The Trent Williams Situation”... In Episode Sixteen, I cover the good, the bad and the mostly ugly of the Redskins fourth regular season game of the 2019 season against the New York Giants. I review the game overall, Case Keenum’s continued struggles, Dwayne Haskins’ rough NFL debut, the non-existent running game, the defense showing glimpses of hope and the mounting injuries… I take another deep dive into the coaching staff and how their complete lack of awareness and refusal to make any adjustment or changes week to week, will ultimately cost them their jobs… and I discuss a new angle in the outlook of trading Trent Williams and everything related to it in the ongoing saga that is “The Trent Williams Situation”... 11. Preseason Gm. 4 - Baltimore Ravens & Closing the Offseason w/ News & 53 Man Roster Projection

10. Washington Redskins 2019 Preseason Game Three - Atlanta Falcons

The Washington Redskins pick up a win on their third preseason game of the year beating the Atlanta Falcons 19-7… The starters played the entire first half and really showed that this team is ready to compete… The defense again balled out, they looked stout against the run and kept the Atlanta passing game in check, the offense got off to a slower start, but kept pursuing all night. In Episode Ten, I cover the good, the bad and the ugly of the Redskins third Preseason game against the Falcons. As always I quickly discuss the ongoing saga that is “The Trent Williams Situation”... I talked about some notable stand-outs on both sides of the ball and some players that stood out for all the wrong reasons. And I take a deep dive into the highly anticipated return of Derrius Guice and the continuation of the Quarterback competition, I go over what I liked from each of the QB's and what I think about this so called “QB Competition”. I wrap up this week by going over if this game changes who this team is and what they are capable of becoming… Enjoy my unsolicited and unrealistically optimistic opinions on all things Washington Redskins in the Third Preseason Game Episode, against the Atlanta Falcons.
