It is a Great Week for College Football

Doug Kezirian joins the Dan Dakich to talk all things college football and touches on NFL betting. On Indiana vs. Penn State... “Anytime a team with national championship aspiration loses, often it effects them the next game. It is like in golf where you can’t have a bad shot twice in a row. It happens in college football just because of the magnitude of each game. I am saying that they are going to lose but Indiana at +14.5 at Happy Valley is something I will take.” On college football week… “I think it is a great week. You have teams that are looking for style points like Alabama and you have other teams that are undefeated and trying to get some respect like Minnesota and Baylor. Baylor is still not getting respect from the committee and they have a chance against Oklahoma. Then you have these “barn burners” of Northwestern vs. UMass. Then you have the really epic point spreads with Ohio St.” On NFL betting… “It is really tough. It is obviously the most popular sport in the country for being fun and having leagues like fantasy. It is really hard to nail it. You have to pick your spot and it is very situational. The numbers are really tight and the market is really tight. Every half point matters and it is difficult.”

Kaepernick Returning Seems Orchestrated

Jason Hammer joins Dan Dakich to break down picks for the weekend and what is going on around the league. On NFL Sundays... “There is a game that has my attention. I find myself betting NFL Sunday not because I believe in certain teams, but because certain teams are awful. Certain teams are trash. The Cincinnati Bengals are trash. Last week was free money with the line against the Ravens.” On Colts vs. Jags… “I have no idea because I don’t know what Nick [Foles] is going to do when he comes back from the Jags. I have no idea if Brissett is going to be able to roll out of the pocket and move well or if one good shot takes him out. If he is out, then you are bringing back Brian Axel Hoyer and he struggles. I am avoiding this game like the plague. Do I think the Colts win? Probably but point spread stuff, I have nothing.” On Colin Kaepernick... “Why now? You would have thought that if he was so passionate about coming back, this type of workout would have happened last year or even the year before. It feels orchestrated to me. If Kaepernick really wants to get back in the NFL and football is important to him, then best of luck, knock yourself out, I am sure someone is willing to take a flyer on him. The whole thing feels orchestrated.”

Colts are Confident in Brissett

Kevin Bowen joins Dan Dakich to discuss the Colts and the locker room situation with Vinatieri. On previous Jaguars games… “The Colts have really struggled against the Jaguars. They are 1-3 in the last two years and they have been outscored by close to 50 or 60 points in those four games. They even were shutout in two of those games. I think where they struggle the most is offensively in the trenches. While they have lost some of their guys like Ramsey and Smith, their defensive front still gets to the quarterback at a very intense level.” On Adam Vinatieri… “I think they were closer than they were in week three but it is weird. I don't view Chris Ballard being as emotionally attached to players but I think with Vinatieri they are having these crazy emotions towards him. They are refusing to accept the reality of the situation right now and we are so used to Chris Ballard being a man of his word when he says he is not going to spend a lot in free agency and collect draft picks, but now he is preaching accountability and not acting on it. Frank Reich says Adam is a leader but isn’t being a leader doing your job? If you're going to be a leader in that locker room you better be doing your job.” On being all in on Jacoby Brissett… “They would have had a more veteran backup earlier. They are set with Jacoby Brissett and absolutely love him. I think they would have always given him the starting keys. I don’t think they would have drafted a quarterback in the first round or maybe they would have drafted a developmental guy in a later round. I'm starting to think more and more that they will try to build around Brissett. They will try to get a quarterback at some point in April but not early on and that is the route they will take.”

Bishop Chatard Looks to Continue Success Against Ft. Wayne Concordia

Rob Doyle, head coach of Bishop Chatard, joins Dan Dakich before their regional game against Ft. Wayne Concordia. Chatard is 11-1 on the season and looks to continue their 8 game win streak. On season… “We have a lot of work we still have to do. We have a really good group of seniors and a good group of juniors that have played really well this year. We played a demanding schedule and some of the scores have been a pleasant surprise for us.” On discipline… “In everything we do, we talk about maintaining standards of excellence. Those standards don’t change no matter who the opponent is, no matter what week it is, no matter what the field conditions are, the temperature; maintaining those standards on the field and in the classroom. If someone steps outside of those standards, those punishments are pretty severe. We have great kids but if someone doesn't meet those, there are going to be consequences and you have to stand by those no matter if that person is a starter or not.”

Vinatieri's Silence Says More Than Words Could Ever Say

Mike Wells joins The Dan Dakich Show to discuss Vinatieri, the kickers brought in and how the Colts can turn the season around. “Did Vinatieri talk today?” “He did talk and he said what he says every single time. The usual stuff as in he needs to get better and he needs to work on his confidence. I’m tired of hearing it.” “Vinatieri keeps alluding he is injured, is he?” “He had something in training, but he didn’t really talk about it. The team refuses to speak on the issue, but he kind of said more by not saying anything.” “Do you think the Colts bringing in people to kick was a sham or not?” “They brought in six kickers last week and four kickers this week. They obviously haven’t found anyone better. The thing we should be asking is why did they bring those people in when they knew they weren’t going to sign them. It is just frustrating because of Vinatieri's missing points and costing us games.” For more on Colts, stay tuned to The Dan Dakich Show. The Dan Dakich ...

There Is A Disconnect With Colts Fans And The Team

Michael Grady joins The Dan Dakich Show to discuss his new role at ESPN, his past here in Indy and the Colts “Give me your thoughts on the Colts?” “I think it is important to pick up the vibe from the fans. I think the fans and the actual team is very different. Everyone seemed to be down on Brissett when Luck left. The truth is that they have fought their tails off this season, even with the big losses the team is fighting is something that should be appreciated. I think the game against the Jags will be an interesting game.” For more on Colts, stay tuned to The Dan Dakich Show. The Dan Dakich Show.

IU Can Beat Penn State

Jason Benetti joins the Dan Dakich Show to discuss the IU Football team and other NCAA sports. “What do you think about the Hoosiers being ranked?” “I like it, I would play for Tom Allen in a heartbeat. I enjoyed talking to the man a lot.” “Can IU compete against Penn State?” “The main question is can they get it to Peyton Ramsey. If he can play then we have a chance. We have to watch out for their defense.” For more on NCAA football, stay tuned to The Dan Dakich Show. The Dan Dakich Show.

Domantas Sabonis Is Putting Up All-Star Numbers Up This Season

Alex Golden joins The Dan Dakich show to discuss Domantas Sabonis, Oladipo and how the Pacers are performing this season. “Are the Pacers playing better because Myles Turner is not playing?” “I mean we only saw him play the first three games, so I don’t think we know honestly. In the first couple of games, we got outscored by 80 points. I think they are making good choices.” “Do you think DomantasSabonis is an all-star right now?” “I think he is definitely in the running for that. When is the last time you have seen a center for the Pacers play this well and put up these kinds of numbers.” “Where do the Pacers fit in the east with Oladipo?” “I just don’t know because Turner and Sabonis have not played together yet. I think they could push through to the conference finals, to be honest. I think Philadelphia is the favorite in the east, however. For more on The Pacers, stay tuned to The Dan Dakich Show. IUPUI Celebrates Until 11:59, Then They Practice Like They Lost

Byron Rimm joins the Dan Dakich Show to discuss IUPUI's basketball team. “Tell me about this IUPUI team this year?” “I think we have 2 of the best shooters in the country. This team really works together as a team.” “How difficult has it been to keep the team together?” “The first few weeks were kind of tough, but after we had a couple of team-building exercises the team has become closer and they are starting to work together better as well.” “When you see teams have big wins early it becomes the highlight of the season, how do you stop that?” “Well, this happened last year with Boston. We will celebrate until 11:59 and then practice the next day as if we lost. We lost to Bradley last year and we are not going to repeat that.” For more on The NCAA, stay tuned to The Dan Dakich Show.
