About Us

Hosted by New York City-based comedians Carolyn Bergier & Melody Kamali, Dyking Out is a podcast about lesbian / queer life, news, and pop culture. Each week, Carolyn and Melody invite a special guest (comedians, musicians, actors, crushes) to dyke out with them about a topic that's relevant to the LGBTQ world. But really, it's just another way to advance the gay agenda.

Member Benefits

No matter how you identify, you can dyke out with us each week to laugh along with a couple of lesbians and a special guest as we talk about different topics occupying the gay agenda. Are you a Susan (the gender-agnostic name for our listeners) who's looking for more ways to dyke out? Become a member, and you'll get access to our Dyking Off Topic episodes, along with extra interactions and posts from us hosts.

Labels w/ Becca Blackwell

EThis episode is everything and nothing, because that's where we always end up when discussing labels. But to us, it's actually everything because we're dyking out with the hilarious and entertaining Becca Blackwell (High Maintenance on HBO)! We talk about their gender and sexuality journey, as well as their relationship to labels throughout their life. What happens when we hold individual definitions for shared labels? Is it okay to disagree about what they mean? What are the spaces we create for our identities and who can occupy them? Can a trans masc person still be a dyke? (ABSOLUTELY). Plus, we talk about the thing many of you have been asking us to talk about, even though we have previously sworn off talking about it/her/spoiler-alert-it's-Taylor-Swift. And, Melody may have finally gotten Carolyn hooked on Real Housewives drama. Finally, we end with a listener question about dealing with misogynistic gatekeepers. Here is the link to Becca's band, Inner Princess! -Hear more from...

Sex Parties w/ Fatimah Asghar

EIt's a sex party (chat), and you're invited (to listen)! Poet and filmmaker Fatimah Asghar (Brown Girls, NPR, PBS) joins us to dyke out about sex parties, which inspired her latest short film Got Game. First, apologies for the guest audio. It was the best we could get given the circumstances, but it's such a great conversation that we hope you won't mind. Where were we? Oh yes, sex parties! We talk less about the actual sex (lame) and more about trying to make a connection and what these interactions can tell us about ourselves. Plus, we talk about the importance of consent and the steps we can take to make these spaces as safe as possible. Before we get to our topic, we talk about our gayest thing of the week, and Los Angeles' gayest thing of the year! Finally, we end with a question from a frustrated listener whose girlfriend won't send nudes. -Check out our extra, exclusive content by joining ourPatreon community or becoming a member on Himalaya. From back-to-back dates to picking up audience members on Zoom shows and everything in between, Alysia does it all. Plus, Melody tries to cheat with her pick for Gayest Thing Of The Week while Carolyn is on her way to becoming a Bernie Sanders meme. Finally, we end with a question from a listener who is questioning her sexuality, but afraid of leading on another woman in case it turns out she isn't queer after all. -Want to hear more from Alysia? Queer Questions with Jerrell Tate

EExclusive EpisodeAfter recording our Self Love episode with Jerrell Tate, he stuck around for a round of queer questioning. Plus, his favorite queer movie has us feeling nostalgic for a re-watch! Jerrell is such a sweetheart, and we hope you give him a listen on his MinoriTea Report podcast.

Lilith Fair w/ Thao Nguyen

EWant an episode that truly lives up to the podcast's name? Because we're dyking out with singer-songwriter Thao Nguyen (Thao & The Get Down Stay Down) about Lilith Fair, and that might be as gay as it gets! But first, Carolyn and Melody mourn the loss of Naya Rivera and talk about what her performance on Glee meant to them. And Melody lets us all know what a Byke is, thanks to a wonderful listener. Then we get to the good stuff. Thao opens up about how her latest album Temple coincides with both her marriage and coming out publicly. This naturally leads into a nostalgia and joke-filled conversation about Lilith Fair - the famed women's music festival that thrived from 1997-1999, and failed in its 2010 revival. We also get the scoop on how her brilliant Zoom music video for Phenom came together in quarantine. Finally, we end with a listener question about being queer in high school in conservative areas. -Want to hear more from Thao? Check out our extra, exclusive content by joining ...

Equity w/ Rachael Rapinoe

ELet's level the playing field by striving for equity both on and off the field (or court, or rink, or office flooring, etc). Rachael Rapinoe joins us this week to talk about how she's working to create equity in the CBD/Cannabis industry. Before she co-founded her company Mendi, she was a professional soccer player who was all too familiar with the disparity in income and playing conditions between men and women. And as you can imagine, the gap can be even bigger for the LGBTQ community and POC. We dyke out about how her background as an athlete informs her decision-making as a business owner in a fairly young industry, and the different ways her sister Megan uses her own platform to fight for equity. But first, it's TikTok O'Clock at the start of the episode. Carolyn and Melody age themselves by talking about their favorite social media fascination. Plus, Melody can't stop thinking about last week's gayest thing. Finally, we end with a listener question about Harry Potter fandom in...

Keeping It Real w/ Erika Owens

EWe're dyking out across the world with photographer Erika Owens, who many of you know from the latest season of TLC's 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. Erika stands out on the show for quite a few reasons. She's part of the first queer pairing on the show, she's super fun and likable, and she has bright, bold, head-turning style. We talked about what it was like coming out on TV and having her relationship drama play out in such a public manner. She also dykes out about what it's like to be queer in a small town, and what inspires her work and style. But before getting into the interview, Carolyn and Melody recap their Priding Out show and give an update on some dramatic developments that unfolded during the show. Plus, we reveal (or should we say 'release') our gayest thing of the week. Finally, w end on a listener question about finding other queer women in the midwest. -Check out our extra, exclusive content by joining ourPatreon community or becoming a member on Himalaya. Self Love w/ Jerrell Tate

EWe could all use a little more self love, especially this pride month. That's why we're dyking out with the very funny and wonderful Jerrell Tate from the MinoriTEA Report podcast. Jerrell, like many in our community, had a long road to self-acceptance and appreciating what makes him different. We talk about how hard it can be to treat ourselves with the kindness that we more easily show to others. And we manage to age ourselves by sharing our personal methods of showing ourselves love and kindness. Plus, our Gayest Thing Of The Week has now officially become a competition with a prize of sorts! Finally, we end with a question from a listener who is afraid that her sexuality will cause her to lose her parent's support and derail her dream of becoming a Rockette. -GET TICKETS to our virtual pride show that's happening this Thursday, June 25 at 8pm EST. -Check out extra, exclusive content by joining ourPatreon community or becoming a member on Himalaya.
