Episode 61: Knives, Forks and Spoons and what they have to do with productivity with Russell Nohelty

Episode 59: What we all need is a little bit of energy with Keziah Robinson

You shouldn’t have to do everything and now you don’t. Running a business is an exhausting task. There is so much you have to do when you’re the Chief Cook and Bottle Washer. There are bound to be things that fall through the cracks. When you’ve got a chronic challenge, it makes it all that much more difficult. So what do you do? First, you need to understand that you don’t always have the same levels of energy and making sure your body is at it’s best is important. How do you do that? A tip for starting on this journey is to actually see what you do with your energy and see how you feel doing it. Then you can sort of match what takes the most energy. For me, I know I'm, I could get up and go from five o'clock in the morning, until about one o'clock in the afternoon. And then I'm toast, and there's nothing I can do that's gonna be worthy of letting anybody else see, you know, from like, one to four, and I'll take a nap or I'll sit back and watch some television and I'll do some, then about four o'clock, I've got some more energy and I can work again for another couple of hours. But if I try to push through from that one to four, and there are times like today I have to do that. My brain gets foggy. I go, I'm not remembering this. I'm not using the right words. And so I've learned to try if there's something that's very important to do it early in the morning. We will spend the next half hour or so talking with Keziah Robinson about all things energy and how to maintain ours while keeping up with our business success. Take a listen! Episode 60: Ways to Change Eating Habits Even When We Resist with Suz Carpenter

Three things in life – your health, your mission, and the people you love. That’s it. Naval Ravikant If you’re like me (even though my health is not very good), you become resistant at the mention of healthy eating. Bean sprouts and radishes – yuck. Give me a good ole hamburger any day. Right? Yet, the more I learn about healthy lifestyles and chronic illness, the more I hear about eating the right way. Like a carrot dangling in front of the horse to get him to move, health and feeling good is my carrot. Of course, when we don’t feel good, our business suffers as well. That’s #2 of the quote above. Our mission is wanting to have the best business and doing the most to help others that we can. Without being healthy ourselves, that makes it harder to complete #2. Finally, I want to be around for the people I love. I want to be able to do things with and for them – not just having them wait on me endlessly because I can’t do anything for myself. That’s #3. In today’s conversa...

Episode 42: Disabled to ENabled with Jessie Ace

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”-Francis of Assisi According to Business.com, self-employment is a very popular choice among people with disabilities. The Small Business Administrationreportedthat 12.2 percent of the general population chose self-employment, and 14.3 percent of people with disabilities started businesses recently. Most of them have not lived their entire lives with their illness, but somewhere along the line they have been injured or received a diagnosis for something that has made their life different. More difficult. Something extra that they have had to learn to deal with along the way. And when you add owning and running a business life can become much more than just challenging. Just like not being a successful business owner out of the gate, managing a disability or chronic illness takes time to figure out and to get a grip on. And for some, that never happens. Sometimes monsters are invisible, andsometimes demons attack you from the inside.Just because you cannot see the claws and the teethdoes not mean they aren’t ripping through me.Pain does not need to be seen to be felt. For someone with one of the “hidden” chronic illnesses, you certainly have heard at least a few times in your life “You don’t look like there’s anything wrong with you.” Or, “All you have to do is take this magic elixir and you be 100% well and feel like you did when you were in your 20s.” Am I right?
