Your Global Voice -- Voices of Women
In this episode of Your Global Voice -- Voices of Women, Terry Lynn Arnold joins Denise Joy Thompson and discusses her journey with and surviving IBC or inflammatory breast cancer. Terry was a very advanced stage 3 when she was diagnosed and had access to an aggressive treatment plan. Terry discusses the relief in having a double mastectomy of her breasts which were literally killing her along with the cancer metastasized to her lymph nodes. Through Terry's journey, her treatment and her seeing the lack of education in not only women but also the medical community in recognizing and diagnosing IBC, Terry created and founded The IBC Network Foundation in the US and a second IBC Network provides support in the UK. Denise Joy and Terry emphasize women need to take care of themselves and be 'selfish" with their health. Early detection and taking a stand for healthcare is key to surviving IBC.
Terry Lynn Arnold is a wife, mother of 5 and grandmother to 11. Terry was named one of Houston's 50 Most Influential Women of 2017 by Houston Woman.
