The BradCast w/ Brad Friedman
On today's 'BradCast': Please don't take Trump's bait -- like his tweet on Thursday suggesting postponing the November 2020 election, even though he has no power to do so. It was a blatant and successful attempt to distract the news media from covering the horrific news that the U.S. economy has plunged a staggering annualized 33 percent during the pandemic. And it worked, with the media helping Trump reinforce his desperate narrative attempting to cast doubt on the election results. Democrats, especially, must stop cowering at Trump's wannabe dictator pronouncements. The anti-Trump Republicans at The Lincoln Project issue new, scathing ad countering Trump's attacks on vote by mail, while Federalist Society founder issues op-ed calling for Trump's impeachment. Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder removed from his position after being charged in $60 million bribery and money laundering scheme to force consumers to bail out First Energy's failing coal and nuclear plants. But Ohio's bribery scandal pales in comparison to a new FEC complaint alleging that the Trump Campaign is violating federal campaign finance laws by laundering nearly $170 million in campaign spending via pass-through firms controlled by his former campaign manager, Brad Parscale, that secretly and illegally funnel millions to Trump associates and even family members. BRENDAN FISCHER, Director of Federal Reform at the Campaign Legal Center (CLC), explains his organization's new complaint, detailing the 'unprecedented scale' of the scheme, how millions of dollars are potentially being siphoned from the campaign to hidden recipients, how it violates multiple campaign finance laws, and what voters can do to reform the system.
