About Us

We are the conservative-libertarian voice for the outdoor lifestyle, a shining beacon of practical knowledge, and the cathartic safe-space for the alienated right-wing. Hosts, Ian and Ryan, are two sophisticated rednecks with a wide range of experience and opinions on camping, 4x4, firearms, gear, how-to, and self-reliance. Politics and culture is often deconstructed with humor and hyperbole. Entertaining, passionate, creative and educational, The Hinterland knows no boundaries!

E70 - A Pirate Turns 40

Another successful Hinterland trip. Not quite an overland adventure, but surely a camping one. We head out to the Ruby Marshes for Ryan's 40th birthday. Debauchery and hell raising ensued. Spells were cast and rituals so dark in nature not to be described were performed (i.e., drinking like madmen). All great adventures come with adversity that must be overcome -- Ryan's rig had a few mechanical hiccups along the way, but all's well that ends well. Lastly, Ryan gear reviews his new camp knife the Esee Izula.
